Measure the feasibility of funding to re-connect a rural community

Project summary

Help the Glendale Gateway Trust measure the feasibility of funding a car club to provide rural residents with access to vital services.

How will this project benefit the organisation?

Applying for funding takes a lot of time and effort. This project will ensure that the trust’s finite resources aren’t wasted on a grant application if it isn’t feasible. It will ensure that the trust either proceeds with a feasible grant application, or can instead focus efforts on other ways to support their community.

Project description

With transport services being withdrawn from sparsely populated rural areas, the residents of Wooler in North Northumberland – particularly seniors – have become isolated from their supermarket and hospital 80 miles away. Having seen success with car clubs in other rural locations, The Glendale Gateway Trust aims to launch a similar program. First, they want to better understand the likelihood of securing funding before undertaking the arduous grant application process.

We seek assistance in measuring the benefits, costs, and risks of a rural car club. A recent survey captured residents’ views on the proposed car club, which we can share to further inform the feasibility analysis.

Any previous experience working with or in rural locations is a bonus but not required.
